Wordoku is Sudoku with letters instead of numbers. The rule is the same: each row, column, and 3×3 box must contain each letter exactly once.

Many Wordoku puzzles use nine letters that can spell a hidden word after the grid is solved. The word is fun, but it is not the main solving method. You still solve by logic, just like classic Sudoku.

Wordoku rules

  • Use nine different letters instead of digits 1-9.
  • Each row must contain all nine letters once.
  • Each column must contain all nine letters once.
  • Each 3×3 box must contain all nine letters once.

How to solve Wordoku

  1. Write the letter set at the top of the page.
  2. Scan rows, columns, and boxes for missing letters.
  3. Place a letter only when one position is forced.
  4. Use candidate notes exactly as you would with numbers.

Wordoku vs Sudoku

Wordoku looks different, but it is not a word game in the crossword sense. Letters replace digits, so the pattern recognition and elimination logic stay the same.
